Centella asiatica (“Tiger grass”) is a perennial zonular plant native to Madagascar, Southeast Asia, and Northern Australia. It has bright green rounded leaves. The herb contains flavonoids, amino acids, glycosides, phytosterols and other elements.
Since ancient times, the plant has become firmly established in Malaysian, Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. Centella is also included in the British and European Pharmacopoeias, but is not widely used in Russian medical practice. In cosmetic products it is designated as centella asiatica, asiaticoside, CICA, asiatic acid, madecassoside (pure plant isolate).
